Anybody played this, and what do you think?

It's basically a sequel/add-on to "Soldiers Heroes of WW2". Little bit old, but SHOWW2 was one of my favourite games ever. So I'm very curious after discovering this game.

As an aside, I tried the proper sequel "Faces of War" and finished it, but didn't find it as enjoyable. Also downloaded the demo for "Men of War" and got the impression it very very similar to "Faces of War".

It was released in English towards the end of '06 from what i can remember.

It is good but to be honest i'd recommend Men of War over it, i suppose SH it's just a bit dated now. MoW is fantastic though and much better than Faces was/is much more refined and polished.

There're 2 demo's floating around for MoW, the official english one and a russian one. There's also one around for the expansion red tide. They all give a good flavour for the game. You can get the 2 of them cheap enough (c. €26) on gamersgate at the moment

Yeh, I tried the Men of War demo. Not bad, but felt too close to Face of War. All those scripted bits are really annoying. "Go here, go back there, pick up 3 guys, wait for the animated sequence, stop the enemy convoy which has appeared out of nowhere triggered by you killing the last person in a particular place, etc."

I bought Silent Heroes for about €5 online and am really enjoying it. Like SHOW2, but with more enemies thrown in. Maybe its the freedom to wander and approach problems the way you want that I find lacking in the newer variations.
