I got a 12v yuasa battery for a honda 50 but it has been shipped dry. I assumed I would have received the acid also but I didnt. Would bike shops have the acid to fill this battery for me or what should I do?

Strange that it came without the acid... you sure its not a gel battery?

Always thought 'gapper' 50's were 6 volt - best check the winker relay or whats written on the bulbs before connecting the battery

The older models were 6v but the newer cub versions and the last of the original type(round light) 50s have a cdi unit and run on 12v

Instructions are in the box that it should be filled with dilute sulphuric acid and topped up with de-ionised water if required later

Cheapest place to buy Suphuric Acid: your local chemist ! (and no, no idea why they stock it, either ! )

Wear old clothes when filling it. Sulphuric acid will eat through a pair of jeans or waxed cotton in minutes.

I had to replace the battery on my bike recently with a yuasa battery - got it from Crossan Motorcyle shop thevisorshop.com.
it came in a big box with two smaller boxes in it, one had the battery the other had a bottle of acid.
and as the guys said - be careful when filling the battery - this stuff will eat through clothes and stain floors etc.

I figured that it was down to safety but then I looked on Ebay & there are loads of people selling the battery with the canister of acid included and they are offering delivery at reasonable cost. Couldnt be anything other than standard courier based on delivery cost.
