Want to join a band?

    Hi,

we`re a female singer and male guitarist currently putting a 5-piece band together with a view to making our living from music. We dont plan on being another covers/tribute/wedding band, we want to gig and record our own material and if it succeeds then well and good.

We`re realistic and dont expect to be rockstars overnight. All we want is a dayjob making music with like-minded musicians and it helps that we`ve an experienced management team behind us who believe in our songwriting talent.

So if you feel that you`re a genuinely talented guitarist, bass player or drummer between 18 and 25 and creative with your chosen instrument, then we`d love to hear from you. Our singer is at myspace.com/catlundy and our guitarist is at myspace.com/17stories.

Between them they`re a prolific songwriting duo and with the right 5-piece crew on board, this could have the makings of a seriously good band. But much of that would depend on the chemistry with the other 3 band members.

We`re basically looking for ambitious musicians who can see the bigger picture and who`d feel comfortable playing venues beyond this island. By adding their skill and talent, who knows where this venture could lead?

Anyway if you`re a dedicated musician who wants ultimately to make his/her living from music, then please mail our management team at: sorchalyons@gmail.com with all relevant info.

Band experience or the lack of it doesnt bother us, freshness and enthusiasm to make it in this highly competitive biz is what matters to us most, along with your talent. Best wishes, Sorcha

Hi, thanks for replying. Our influences are wide ranging: everything from Radiohead to Pink and from Interpol to Johnny Cash!! Ideally we`d like the band members to bring their own unique listening experience to the mix in the hope we`d create our own signature sound.

Is there any way you could hear our myspace songs outside of work? Such as on a mate`s computer or in an internet cafe. And btw what do you play yourself and are you based in Dublin?

Hey, I'm a drummer just outside your age range being 26. Very interested in your band if you're still looking for musicians and if 26 isn't too old. Just one question, where are you currently based?

Hi, thanks for all the interest and the mail I`ve got so far at: sorchalyons@gmail.com. If anyone else is interested, then just mail me with some info about yourself such as: where you`re based, what instrument you play and how long you`ve been playing, how available you are for gigs and rehearsals and any other information that would make us feel you`d add a lot to the band.

While we all want to have fun with this and make great music, we also realise how savagely competitive the music biz is. It helps that my management partner and I have years of knowledge/experience of this industry and we depend very much on ambitious and reliable musicians as we help to form this 5-piece band of singer, 2 guitars, bass and drums.

In answer to Discobeaker`s question, we have 2 members so far - a female singer and a male guitarist. The singer`s songs are at www.myspace.com/catlundy. The guitarist`s songs are at www.myspace.com/17stories.

The singer is 21 and the guitarist, though only 18, is a multi instrumentalist. If an awesome bass player or drummer who`s 26 or 27 suddenly appears, then what about it? The band is about talent and not age, though obviously younger musicians will be on a more similar wavelength to the 2 band members so far.

In answer to Pineapple Soul, we`re based in the Swords and Raheny areas and hope to practise in Phibsboro or the city centre, so southsiders are more than welcome once they dont mind crossing the Liffey :) It`ll be well worth their while if the management team have anything to do with it!!

    Best wishes, Sorcha
