    If I have a car on a 73 D plate is it possible to get it changed to a ZV registration :confused:

    Yes. Contact your local VRO office and explain that you want to reregister your vehicle to the ZV style registration number and they will tell you what to do.

    Be aware this is a 'one way' procedure: you cannot revert back to 73 D anymore!!!

    Following on from the OP's question, if I have an imported 84D car can that change to a ZV plate when it hits 30, or is the change only possible on a car that was 30 years old when originally imported?

    Yes,should be possible,though what will happen in 2017 when 1987 cars are 30,they shouldnt get ZVs....

    Try and get a four digit ZV if possible ...some counties are still issuing them, i.e. ZV **** not ZV *****.

    I have a ZV car, but my slightly old '76 Kaw is an ordinary EU plate in the modern format. A black plate with the modern format just looks better, ZV is a bit fake really.

    you can get whatever style you want for the actual plate (well, not strictly but in practise you can....)
