    2 breaks? For a 30 minute show? :O

    That's pretty bad.

Wait until there's a break, then the credits roll, then another break. Rioting in the streets I tells ya.

but they didn't have ads between the shows?
I can't remember what channel they do that on, they're still getting their
4 breaks in per hour but it's very annoying.

They've been doing this in the US for ages, more people not paying for stuff means that those who are paying have to pay more

    fcuk it though :pac:

This malark is just not on, and whats more it's counter productive.

I never actually understood just how bad the US was until I went there. It seemed that the volume of ad breaks had just diluted the effect of advertising so much that the advertisers were not spending much on the ads themselves which in turn meant that the ads were of a really terrible quality which in turn made you take them even less seriously.

Sky1 is in a league of its own though.

Might be fx, noticed that there didn't seem to be ads in between few shows.

The Discovery Channel doesn't have ad breaks in between the shows. They have one 5 minutes in though.

Sky is there to make money. They're slowly introducing more ads with this in mind. You'll be annoyed for awhile, then it will become normal, then they'll add another, and you'll be annoyed again, but then it will become normal etc.

    People will still watch it.

Yep the US is insane for watching stuff, a 30min show often has three adbreaks, its unwatchable!

just get sky + no? Those two add breaks only add up to like 15 seconds when you fast forward.

na all the matches are interrupted by incomprehendable yak by alan hansen and mark laurenson!
I like the more frequent but shorter ad breaks, they other ones are so long i lose interest and sometimes even forget what the hell i was watching

The average 1 hour show only has 40 to 42 mins of content. That is 18 to 20 mins of ads per hour.

Up from 50mins in the mid 1990s, steadly down to 45mins in the early 2000s and now we are at 40mins, I look foward to hour long Simpsons episodes :(

OTT is the Irish continuity different to the UK's? I notice an Irish accent on Sky 1 recently.

    Discovery Channel do that sometimes.
What I like to do is record a program that starts at 8:00, then start watching it at 8:20 so I can skip the ad's but still have it finish befor 9:00. :D

They tried this on the now dead ABC "24 hours of Three Simple Rules" One.
