Best place to buy a barbell?

I'm thinking of doing Starting Strength and want to know where the best place to buy a barbell would be? I have a pair of dumbbells so I could use the plates from them on the barbell also.

Also, is it possible to do all of SS exercises at home with just the barbell? Do many recommend SS?

    Thanks

    www.irish-lifting.com
Very good selection of bars and weights and a great service.
Have used a few times now for plates and equipment.

I do starting strength with a regular 5 foot bar when i'm not in the gym. If you want to go on the cheap try adverts.ie. You'll need a rack for squats though.

I'm looking for an Olympic set at the moment as my bench and rack are olympic size and have to use stoppers but my current set up has served me well.

I would highly recomment the SS Programme, it really is good! you'll be absolutely sick of squats though, 3 days a week:eek:
u will definitely make gains if u stick to it and get good rest and food in ya

OP you will need some sort of rack to do SS at home.
For squatting and heavy benching safely.

Didn't someone have a video up here of his barbell set up, and it was some blocks, some gas canisters and some timber? If you're willing to brave the weather you could set something like that up in your back garden. Me and my mate used to bench using two beds with 2 kitchen stools as the bench between the beds. Rest the bar on the beds, lie down on the stools, squeeze under the bar and away you go. Morons. But we were 14 so we can be forgiven.
