Incorrect, I'm afraid. They ship from Jersey, the channel island which is tax-free. So, there is a chance of it being stopped.

Yes, sorry, you are right. Just checked on play.com (It is hidden inside help / general questions / Delivery/title/risk)
    36. If your delivery address is outside of Jersey, you may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are levied once a shipment reaches your country. Any such additional charges for customs clearance must be borne by you. You should note that customs policies vary widely from country to country; Play.com advises each customer to contact their local customs office for further information.

    Never saw it before.

Never had problems with customs, but I imagine it will depend on the ammount expent and how lucky you are.

Can I ask if you play the wii version on the wii without having to buy anything else or is the microphone the minimum ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

You can't play the Wii version of it without at least a mic and a single wiimote. The other Wii instruments all have a socket where you plug in the wiimote, the Mic plugs into the USB ports on the back.

BTW the Wii version is in HMV Liffey Valley for 19.99

Oh, on the tax thing, they tend to be more vigilant around christmas. And I think they've specifically targeted shipments from Play.com in the past during the run-up to christmas because Play pay the UK government either VAT or a notional payment to partially compensate them for the loss in VAT, then they charge Irish customers the same (or higher, with their scabby euro rate) prices than UK but don't give the irish government the kick-back. Dunno if that's still an issue.

I've been ordering from play for 3 years - probably average about 2 or 3 packages a month - never once had a tax bill or a problem

I've never had a tax bill, but a lot of packages have been held for up to a month by mailtrace around the Christmas period (think they're a third party company that customs get to check packages)

Extremely silly question here, but would the 360 version work with just a GH guitar?
