No Signal Received - Sky+ Box

    Sorry if this has been answered before, I haven't seen it anywhere myself.

    We had a power surge in the house on Monday night. It blew up my DVD player and has messed up my Sky+ Box too, even though I had them all plugged into a surge protector adaptor.

    Anyway, my Sky Box will turn on now but i keep getting an error message reading the following;

    For Your Information 29
    No satellite signal is being received, please plug out your Sky+ Box for one minute blah blah blah....

    I have tried the normal resets etc and I have been onto Tech Support at Sky. By running a system health chech they told me that there is no signal in both the Input 1 & Input 2 receivers and that an engineer will need to call out, but the earliest he can come is the 20th November. (I'm stuck with rabbit ears - there's only so much of Fair City I can put up with)

    I have hooked up an old Sky Box and this gives me the same result so I'm assuming that the problem is with the dish.

    Any ideas? Cheers

    sounds like the lnb got fried..

    you could try getting a replacement and changing it out yourself. ( if you can reach the dish easily )

    try a local installer, they may be able to get to you quicker,

    Cheers for that. I'd just been looking around a bit on the web and I was beginning to think it was the LNB (never heard of it before today) There's one available on Satellite.ie, a lot cheaper than Maplins.

    Luckily I live in a bungalow, don't even need a chair to reach the LNB.

    Thanks again.
