...usually no but I got this one back that said "...you were short listed for an interview but we're not taking it further, but we've kept your CV for future opportunities..." type of thing, maybe found someone suitable already Send back a "thank you for replying" type thing? Yay or Nay

No harm in showing that you're still interested and thanking them for thier time... More chance of being kept in mind for future openings.
