Club Funds

    Advice needed.
I am a member of a small club < 30 members. We raise money for our events by selling Local sports club lotto tickets, which we would recieve a percentage of the take.
This has worked well for years, lately a small few members wanted to take over as acting treasurers, instead we offered one of them a signature position for access to the club accounts. ( 2 or more signatures for transactions). However, we have just discovered they have opened a new account in a seperate bank and lodged money from the fund raising. This was not done with consultation between all the club members and did not arrise as a point of discussion at any meeting. I suspect the actions are illegal, but to what extent and what recourse do we have.

I don't think discussing this at length will prove useful.

Report the matter to the Gardai in consultation and with the approval of your fellow club administrators. Do so, only on the basis that you have the appropriate facts to hand.

I am going to lock this thread now.

    Tom
