Are you using scart connection to the tv?

    Yes using a scart lead.

turn down the sharpness levels by using the tv remote

Also try changing the scart settings to rgb if not already done by

    Press services
    press no 4
    press no 1

change video output to rgb and change aspect to 16:9 if not already done.

highlight save new settings and press ok.

That sounds like a either a dodgy cable or the scart isn't plugged in all the way on either end.

Also, most tv's have two scart sockets. Usually only one of these is suitable for RGB, probably labeled scart 1 or something. Make sure that your box is plugged into that one.

I've a Samsung tv and my Sky+ box looks fine.

+1 - definitely a dodgy connection on the SCART connection
