Garden Works across from Malahide Castle is great but i am not sure how far away that is from Clontarf (they are both on the sea arent they?)

There's a small garden centre on the Howth Road near Ashling Hotel. Also there are garden centres on Malahide Road near Kinsealy.

Yep it's called black banks just where the Howth road meets the seafront at the end of Raheny. I've done very well with the garden section in homebase in santry too - right across from ikea - they've a great stock of more modern architectural plants. The woodies on the malahide road opposite coolock has lots of bits too - it's got a wider selection of flowering plants, lots of nice grasses and sedges too. Both have good horticulturists for advice and homebase do a lot of decent 3 for 2's on small plants and herbs.
