Ok i just got off phone with Sky asking them weather or not this would affect Ireland users seeing as its an increase in the UK.

I have now talked to 2 people both from Scotland threw Sky that didnt have a clue about the vat had to go off and check and they both came back and told me with out any reasons that yes it includes Ireland.

Is this really the truth if the vat is being put up in UK why are customers in Ireland being told they have to pay it also i mean far as second person told me its going up from 71.50 to as much as 73 euro for the full sky package.

It's because Irish customers pay their subscription to Sky in the UK, including UK VAT.

When the uk vat decreased though we were looking at decreased subs. Works both ways. Still think an increase in these times is a bit much tho

Why are the subscription charges in Ireland still so much more expensive than the UK?
Considering the exchange rate is close enough to par for the last year?!

Because we are stupid enough to keep paying it. Businesses like Sky will charge what they can get away with and there is nothing we can do - except cancel.

We did just that, and its amazing how you can survive with only the free channels, which we should all do, considering the majority of us grew up with just two!!:D:D

Anyway, if we paid the Irish VAT rate it'd be 21 or 21.5% or similar. We'd be paying more! But it is wrong that we have to pay more for our subs than the british AND they get alot more for their money.:(
