I am thinking of buying a PS3 but all I have is the O2 mobile broadband thing for my laptop. Is this fast enough to play games online with the PS3?

Fast wouldnt be my concern but reliability..sure why dont you try it out and report back

How good/bad are your current ping times?

Tried meteor once and it could barely stream a youtube video.
No I would have to say.

Just to add that I have O2 boradband and very happy with it. I am getting speeds of 1.5 MB and average pings of about 100MS.

I have yet to try using the PS3 (might give it a go later) but I was paying quake live last nite for about 3 hours and never lagged once, although in saying that, big difference between quake live and call of duty:D

Not really, it's the same thing, Roughly same data being sent and recieved. Ping is your major concern. You would be lucky to get a ping of under 150 in most instances of mobile broadband.

I strongly suggest not getting mobile broadband. Get real broadband.

For mobile broadband, you can buy one of those belkin 3G routers and pop the sim into it.

I use 3 ireland 3.6mbps mobile broadband and little problems. Not a lot of lag, its very rare in fact. Only downside is finding games. it takes its time to do that!!!
