    Hi,
I bought a site 2 years ago and paid the stamp duty on it. I have just finished building my house. Does anyone know if I now need to pay stamp duty on the building?
    Thanks

Stamp duty is payable on a wide range of legal and commercial documents or payable by reference to statements such as in the banking industry. AFAIK there would be no reason why stamp duty would be payable on building a house. However it is a seperate matter when you are purchasing a house where a legal document has to be stamped in order to transfer ownership. This is why you had to pay stamp duty on the purchase of the site.
