Its a nice way of saying "nasty additives, you would be horrified to hear what they really are, but we can legally add them"

There was a post in the veggie forum about additives in bread, apparently some are derived from human hair

Yeah, if you've ever baked your own bread, you'll know how fast it goes stale, compared with the days or even weeks that commercial bread keeps.

scary stuff, but you would wonder why somewhere like the s/w counter with such a high tunrover would need any preservatives. How can they get away with no listing them?

Eww.. along with the fact that there is measurable amounts of rat faeces in all wheat is a real good incentive to avoid bread altogether..

What now? Is that true about the rat faeces? They probably sterilise the wheat anyway though, right?

its true, but I wouldnt worry about it, its just more anti wheat propaganda IMO .. There are "measurable" ammounts of a lot of things in our daily food stuffs but you cant get too neurotic about it. Yes wheat is cleaned using ammonia (which is probably not the best either) ..

If you were to get hung up on the rat dropping issue, maybe all of the people who pick fruit and veg from their gardens should stop in case a rat has been (which is very likely!) .. :D
