    Hi
This has bugged me before but I never felt like talking about it cos its only recently that has really been an obvious problem.
The best way to explain what it is, is just to describe something that happened.
I lost my hat the other day, I looked everywhere for it eventually my flat mate found it in the bin.
Now hes not the kinda guy to lie about these kinda things or do stupid stuff to annoy me. So without a doubt I took of my hat and put it in the bin. I dont know why I would do something so silly. Its very embarassing to explain how it might have gotten there.
Things like this happen all the time at work/college.
I will do something silly, I will no that I have done it, and I will carry on until someone asks why I have done this silly thing, I know I had a reason to do it but now I cant remember and end up trying to think up a logical reason for doing it on the spot.
    Do you understand?
This happens all the time, last night I put my glasses under my mattress and broke them when I sat on the bed while looking for them. I honestly dont know why I put them under there! I mean why the **** would I do that!?!
People must think I'm stupid or something, if I go to a resturaunt with people, when the waiter comes back with the food and asks what I ordered I cant remember.
Yesterday I asked some people how far aways such and such a town was, when they asked why I couldn't remember.
And why if I am looking for my shoes do I look in the fridge? This isnt like that thing where your looking for something but its in your hand, this happens all the time.
I dont think there is anything wrong with me, maybe there is, but I want to know if there is a way to fix myself?

    Hi,

There are many potential causes for this, but I can certainly relate to what you're saying. I know that we shouldn't give you a 'diagnosis' here though, as we are not professionals. As such, I implore you to arrange an appointment with your GP about this. I suspect that it's really starting to upset/depress you and could do with some long-overdue attention.

I went through a spell a few years ago of forgetting stuff or having little blanks. I had an awful lot on my mind at the time so it was definitely down to stress. I'll give you an example of one thing that happened...I was working with a couple of lads at work one day.. we were trying to remember the name of the programe 'Law And Order'. We were racking our brains trying to think of it. A few hours passed and I got talking to my friend who told me the name. I went back over to the group I'd been with earlier and announced the title..all delighted with myself.. They all turned and stared at me and said 'are you for real?...Sure, we're after saying that earlier on'...I told them I hadn't heard them and they all burst out laughing. Seemingly I'd been there when one of them thought of it and I'd nodded and clearly said 'ah yeah Law And Order'. I couldn't believe it. I'd really no recollection at all of this happening.
I'd imagine you're suffering from mild anxiety. The more you'll fret about it the worse it'll get..Go to your gp and have him check you out just to put your mind at rest.
