Other half has a problem with a LT HP Pavillion.

The blue screen is coming up when he started up and shows Bad_Pool_Caller.

Then it keeps trying to auto-re-start, and then goes back to blue screen.

    Can anyone please help?

BTW the system is a WinXP.

    Thanks in advance

Its either bad RAM or a faulty HDD

Download Trinity Rescue CD and you can test the Ram or the HDD

    OR

Do you have an option to boot into diagnostics mode on the laptop like the DELL ones - try pressing F12 at the bios screen to see if you have a diagnostics partition

ok - all done - no good - will bring up the HP front end - then a window's message that the system is not fully installed - please run set-up again - click on OK and it keeps going back to that.

Far as I know he was uploading the new windows MSN last night and when he went to turn it on tonight it's threw up this error message.

He's going to try the F11 now - that's saying his hard-drive is going to be re-formatted - that's prob going to take an hr - is it?
