Humax released an update for the foxsat HD/HDR yesterday so I ran the update OTA and it updated the Firmware to 1.00.23 but the loader firmware was not updated from 7.22 to 7.24, They have the loader update on the website I am just wondering what the loader does and should I update it manually or just leave it alone?

basically the only reason to update the loader is if you were having issues with updating the firmware using a one cable setup (means your firmware is old) or trouble with diseqc switch, otherwise theres no difference

    Can someone please tell me:

What the loader is and how do I check it's firmware?
How do I check what the current firmware is of the box?

    It's a Humax foxsat HDR..

    Many thanks

    What machine are you updating?
The new firmware version on the Foxsat HD HDR is 1.00.11
The loader version is 7.52 or 7.53 (7.53 only needed if you have a single cable connection to LNB).

Please note - many, including me, have had problems with the Foxsat HD update - for many people, they've lost channels after that update that won't come back, eg. CBS Reality (in my case), which I can still pick up on another satellite receiver.

    See the thread: http://www.avforums.com/forums/freesat/1121049-humax-foxsat-hd-firmware-v1-00-23-download-available.html

I can't remember if it's mentioned there or elsewhere that Humax are aware of the problem and are working on a fix, due to be out around the end of November.

Of course if your box is on overnight, it will probably have picked it up already, as was the case for me...

Just to be clear - the original poster of this thread was talking about a firmware update to the Humax HD HDR, but went on to mention version numbers which did not relate to the HDR product. The problems with channel loss seem to be linked with the HD product which is not a PVR (no on-board hard disk). Owners of the HDR product also got a firmware update which has fixed some minor issues, but created a new set of problems related to screen aspect ratio switching and also with loss of volume control on the HDMI and optical out.
