    Hi all,
I just got my BTEA last week after waiting 8 weeks or so which is great! I have been offered a few hours work on a Saturday maybe 4-8hours max per week, does anybody know if this is allowed with the BTEA or is in anyone in the same situation?

It says nothing about this in the SW70 booklet and just thought someone might know here before I TRY ring them...

    any info appreciated,

    thanks

Unfortunately for the taxpayer, yes you can work part-time and continue to receive your 204 euro BTEA a week, plus your rent paid if applicable.

However, I wouldn't be surprised if things change drastically in the budget next month.

Well the taxpayer is hardly losing out by me working 4 hours or so per week! thanks for the info, do you know where I could see that in writing?

Ok not you then, but there are lots of people who are working a lot more hours per week alongside their BTEA, which seems wrong to me if they're getting their rent paid and 205 per week spending money.

With that I would agree, I don't think its fair being allowed as many hours as you want, personally I will only be doing 8 max and there should probably be a cap on the amount of hours your allowed while on the BTEA, maybe 20 or so as if your in college full time you should have enough work to be doing imo....

I am currently working full-time and going to college part-time. Would I be entitled to get BTEA??

Or is there a way I can leave work and go bk to college without losing too much income?:D

Thanks for your help on this.

if your working full time you shouldn't be entitled to get the BTEA, you have to be unemployed for at least 9months previous to starting college

I had an ordinary degree and am doing an honours at the moment. you have to be unemployed for 9months but if your looking to do a masters or phd etc I don;t think it covers that. If its an honours your probably to late and would have to apply next year.
