ive installed sky player on my xbox 360.
upon installing i was asked to set up and enter an sky id
    which i done and entered.
all this worked fine and i was now viewing sky news with a banner saying
i needed a multiroom subscription to watch sky on my xbox.
grand got all my details together and rang skys CUSTOMER SERVICE number
after 15 minutes waiting i got trough to sky ireland only to be told i was on the the wrong dept and was given a different number to ring.now rang this number waited another 10 minutes only to be told that i needed to ring another dept..(none of these even knew what sky player was).

i then rang a 3rd customer service number the girl here told me that
i needed a xbox live sub which i have.
then told me that its not possible to get sky on an xbox...
then she told me id need to have a sky box in my room for multiroom service.

any help on how to get sky player working would be great as sky are useless...

Eh, not sure what to tell you here man.

I downloaded Sky player to my xbox too, all I had to do was enter my viewing card number etc and hey presto! Everything worked first time and no probs.

I do however have multi room subscrition, so this perhaps is a factor on wether or not you can get it via xbox.

This may sound like a silly question, but did you try googling the question?

You need a multi-room subscription to get it free.

For movies and sports you need subscriptions to them too.

I found youre better off doing it online.
    Have a look here http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/skyplayer/

Then sign in to sky player on the web and go to Accounts and settings.
Then in manage subscriptions input the code XBOX1MONTHFREE.

Worked instantly for me when i done it.
They dont even need payment details till the month runs out.
    Hope this heelps :)

well yes...multi-room means you have more than 1 box

the alternative seems to be if you know someone who has multi-room but is not using sky player, you could enter their details if they are agreeable

I set it up over the weekend. I had a sky account that I closed last month but won't be cut off until this month. I put in my username and password and the XBOX1MONTH thing and it works fine.

I had movies so they work excellently but no Multi room so will either have to pay after a month, or my sis has multiroom so could use her account but she doesn't have movies and this is really why I want it.

Gotta try and figure out if I know someone with sky multiroom with movies so I can get the full set up for free.

Although you don't need multiroom. You can just pay sky the €14.75 a month for a sky player subscribtion but that's a lot for XBox TV if you ask me. Especially considering you don't get all 12 movie channels, just 2.

Another stupid decision by Sky, I mean if you HAVE multiroom you're less likely to want to watch it on your XBox anyway!

It's quite silly to expect everyone to pay an extra €14.95 a month just to watch sky on their xbox.

I have one telly. My xbox is connected to it as is sky. It would be cool to use the sky player, but I'm not paying an extra €14.95 to view it on the same telly.

Seems like a lot of work for something only people who currently do have multiroom and a gold account might use sometimes as a novelty.

Definitely not something most people are going to pay for extra though.

I found a relative with Sky Multiroom with Movies and sports and no XBox so i'm sorted. Tonnes of movies to watch on Demand.

A friend of mine in the shticks only has 3 channels but his parents have Multiroom with everything too so they'll now have a LOT more TV for free.

It is really good for people in that situation but if you already have sky Multiroom the chances of you needing it on your XBox are very slim.

It should be something aimed more at people who don't have Sky at all. 14.75 wouldn't be too bad if it was all you had, but on top of your hefty sky subscription it's pretty outrageous.

Hi, can anyone give me a list of or a link to what channels are available through Sky TV on the Xbox? I've been looking through the Sky website but its hard to find a proper list to say the least.

I was thinking about getting Sky through my Xbox but wanted to know if i can get the basic channels like RTE, TV3, TG4, BBC etc.

Appreciate if anyone can help me.

The fact that those with multiroom get it free is great - not so much for the live tv part which I could of course just watch through the sky box but for the other content - the hundreds of movies and tv progs that are available to watch anytime. I doubt if I'd py extra for it but it's a nice bonus and definitely a plus over NTL/UPC whtever they are called now.

not all the programmes are free... i noticed a lot of new series' u have to pay per show. Eg, Ross Kemp

Going to tag my question on to the end here as it might be more suitable if someone is searching to get all the answers in one place .

Am I understanding this right ?

IF I have a sky sub and an xbox live gold sub and sky multiroom , I can get sky player through my xbox ? ... what if I am out in Spain for a few weeks .. could I bring my xbox and connect it to broadband and continue with my sky player ??

Asking the question on behalf of someone else ... I couldn't afford to go to Spanish Point not to mind Spain

the price is a way of ensuring people dont get around the multiroom subscription

e.g. I could watch sky on a second TV on skyplayer and not bother paying multi-room

A bit shortsighted though...they should be trying to encourage the service. Its an IP based player after all and not a full broadcast service. If you pay a subscription they should allow you to use the player where ever you want (maybe limit to 2 simultaneous PCs/XBOX or something to restrict people passign on their subscriptions to others)

Would imagine its limited to Irish IP addresses like BBC iPlayer is to UK addresses.

I use my bro in laws account and he is in England so Spain may not be an issue. As far as I can tell it's limited to 1 Xbox, doesn't matter where that Xbox is.

but you can watch live sports, movies etc on a second TV, thats the point

it doesn't bothter me that much as I have multiroom, but I can see their point
