The diesel is more popular and will be easier to sell. There should be deals to be had on these.
If you like Petrol cars as I do, I guess you are better buy the one you like rather than the one the next owner will like.
I can see it being heavyish on petrol though. I have an A5 1.8Tfsi 170 bhp and its as heavy as an older more powerful 1.8T Audi TT that i used to own.

    thanks for the reply

I do prefer petrol engines. I was havign a quick look around the web (the likes of honest john .co.uk) and all the problems listed seemed to be with the diesel engines in these cars.

how heavy is heavy on juice?

    I average about 10L/100km
    or
about 27 28 MPG mixed driving. I wouldnt see much difference between the 1.8 & the 2.0 but the A6 might be a bit heavier so possibly a bit less fuel efficient.
The diesels are doing high 40s mpg i think

    wow 28 is pretty low.

most fo my driving is short distance. 2 bursts, 1 to and 1 home from work of about 12km. never stuck in traffic though.

the specs said it was getting 37.7mpg!

I once did 60 miles driving as fuel efficiently as possible, i.e. not braking at all etc and no heavy acceleration. It was basically as good as the car could do and not a level of efficiency that could ever be achieved under normal driving and I got 7.7L/100km or about 36 mpg. So a careful driver would achieve somewhere in between. 37.7 mpg is not possible in my car at least.

most likely would not be for me either tbh. Was just thrown off as the reported 37.7mpg was supposed to be for mixed driving so thought it might be a little better than that.

Any ideas as to what I might look out for when I go to look at it?

    What year is the car?
I dont know anything about A6 really. New model out currently so prices of the older ones should reflect this. THey are only around 40k new now diesel so price based on that.
