Resurgam 'Abendmusik'

Just wondering if anyone else was at one of the Resurgam/Irish Baroque Orchestra Abendmusik concerts over the weekend. For those who didn't hear about this, it was basically a loose reconstruction of a Lutheran church service from around the time of Bach, so it featured some organ chorale preludes, chorale-singing, a Bach Lutheran mass setting, the gospel of the day and the cantata of the day—basically, as conductor Mark Duley said, 'a concert masquerading as a service' (or the other way round).

I had to go along (to the one last night in Trinity College chapel) as it was a fascinating idea, and I wasn't disappointed. Malcolm Proud on organ was fantastic as ever, and the singing was excellent, particularly the alto soloist, Owen Willets (?). The IBO were on top form as usual, and Julia Corry was a particularly excellent flute soloist. Resurgam is an excellent choir but my only qualm would have to be the number of singers which I felt was too large for the modestly sized orchestra. Personally I think two voices to a part would have been a better match. But otherwise (apart from the rather uncomfortable pews!) I couldn't fault it.
