Not sure but I wish these new age emo spoon heads would ever shut up moaning about the festive traditions such as lights, people putting up their decorations etc. Fair enough some don't have children or whatever but shut up with the anti xmas bs.

The 'Festival of Light' (wtf? sounds like we are in Japan or somewhere)
I believe is next weekend. Too bloody soon as usual.

Edit: @ Jay D; I'm not an emo. I like Christmas. I just dislike premature Christmas.

Found link, actually it says here it is 26th. That's moe like it.
This year's traditional Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is being integrated with the Parade of Light. Four individual parades departing from Smithfield, Grafton Street, City Hall and the Docklands will converge on O'Connell Street for the lighting ceremony.

They are being switched on in O'Connell Street on Sunday 22nd. Roads are closed from early and the event starts at 4.30 with the lights being actually switched on at 6.30

Every year I moan that they come on too soon.

And yet when they do, I'm a total sucker for them.

Are there any details about this anywhere? Can't find.

    hmmm, something here
The annual Christmas light switch-on takes place on Henry Street on November 15 followed by Grafton Street on November 17, culminating in the lighting of the 60-foot high LED tree on O'Connell Street at 4:30pm on November 22. The 'Dublin on Ice' ice-skating rink re-opens from November 20 to January 10.

It doesn't say what time, bah!

Wrong time of the month in more ways than one? Jaysus no need to be so passionate about it.

Too early now, last week of november at the earliest for all these festive whatnots. You just get too used to it otherwise and it devalues the occasion for me anyway.

Yeah they are the same on Grafton this year. Same ones for the last 2 years as far as I know.

These lights piss the **** outta me...
    November is waaaayyyyyyyyyy too early....

    They should think of

    Electricty bill
    Tax payers
People who cannot afford Christmas this year
    Global warming

The money wasted on turning those lights on a month too early can be used to feed the poor! :(

    /rant

The lights are typically paid for by shops, not by the local authority so taxpayers aren't affected.

A lot of shops are making people redundant....

It still doesn't justify the expense!

It does when you think of all the people that will be attracted into the city to shop at Christmas, generating more cash to the shops.
