HP and Half Rule

Ok so just got back from mechanic with car.
Not good news. Timing chain streched, said he would do it for €600.
I told him no thanks, unemployed at the moment and havent got €600 to repair a 6 year old car.

Now car is out on HP with PTSB finance and afaik ive paid about €4800 out of €11000. Its stated in my HP contract that i can give the car back at €5500 or so.

So with two more payments il be able to hand the car back. Here's the thing:

The car will not start due to the timing chain so its parked up. Afaik there isnt much else wrong with the car.

So will i be able to get bank to collect the car themselves? also can you hand the car back even if it is not running or would i need to get it running first before i hand it back??

Also when they bill me for repairs will they have to be paid in full or would it be possible to pay this over an agreed time?

    Any help much appreciated :)

They'll hand you an invoice from the most expensive mechanic they can find.

Get it done yourself i'd say. Then look at handing the car back.

Yeah probably. Any ideas what is tolerable wear & tear on a 6 year old car or is how old it is even taken into consideration?

id hand the car back and ask for hp to be put on a newer car at same monthly repayments
as regrauds the timing chain can the car start and drive as it is or is it totally unstartable

Thats the thing: im unemployed so a new(er) car is not what i need...
Also its not starting at all, just stopped going there a few days ago.

Tbh im looking to get monthly payments lowered for next few months and just buy a banger to do me til I either get a job or can hand the car back
