recently my mac decided to act as if the apple/command key is constantly being pressed down. so i am unable to type anything. its not physically stuck down and doesnt seem to have dust underneath. ive tried all the tricks ie starting in safe mode, resetting pram, taking out the battery and hold power button down to restore defaults. i cant type my passwod to get into safemode or anything however when i boot up in 'start up' mode (holding S down) the keyboard works perfectly but when i enter fsck to go into single user mode nothing happens. ive rang apple support and after 40min phone call he cudnt figure it out. my mac is 2years old so i dont have warranty or applecare. ive searched online and have found only a few have come across this but give no solutions . has ANYONE on here ever come across this or even heard of it?? any tech wizards offer some help?? be GREATLY appreciated as i am stuck and had to type this thread with my ps3 joypad!!

Moved to Mac from Apple Media Devices ... should get a better response here.

Have you a USB keyboard you could connect to the Macbook?

Yeh I got a loan of a bluetooth keyboard today and it works fine back to normal as it overrides it. I was able to turn on the keyboard viewer and that showed me that the two Apple keys were greyed out as if being pressed. still have no idea how to fix this at all tho?

    you'll need a new topcase I'm afraid.

Do you reckon? I heard that can cost 200+
its really strange tho the way it just happened without anything substantial happening (a crash, spilling something or dropping it)

have you heard of this happen before?
