Chance to get back together?

    Hi all,

I know these posts are getting a bit generic, but I wouldn't mind getting yer opinions. Myself & my ex broke up 3 months after after 5 years together. We loved each other so much, had loads in common but differences in how we deal with problems came between us. This and having spent 6 months stuck in each others pockets in a non-English speaking country seemed to get the better of us, and we kinda mutually decided to break up. It had gone stale and we felt a bit numb to each other at the end.

Since breaking up, I've realised how much I took for granted, the chemistry between us, the way we got along so well, the lovely things he'd do, how much I loved him, etc. Feeling like this and missing him like mad are making me think that I want to get back together with him at some stage. When we broke up, we did refer to getting back together at some stage. We both acknowledged that I needed to be single for a while and needed to be sure about the relationship before it went any further. We got together when I was 19 and I hadn't really had a period of being single, and had never slept with anyone else. He seemed to totally understand and said that he suspected it would become an issue that he had had so much more experiences than me.

We've met up a few times and everytime the chemistry is electric and we flirt like mad. We both say we miss each other like crazy and nobody else is interesting to us. Basically it looks like we have something special and possibly both want to be together in the future. The thing is, we're in contact ever now and then but he hasn't initiated a meetup yet. I know most posts say that you should cut all contact. I guess Im scared that cutting all contact will ruin any chance of a reconciliation. Or do ye think it's the other way around, that NOT cutting contact will ruin chances?

I know I probably shouldn't be thinking about getting back together without giving it more time, but its what I want. Also I know so many couples that broke up for a year and then got back together and married, so it doesn't seem like that bad a thing to do. Do ye think I should take the leap and cut contact (though it would kill me to do it) or put it to him that I think we should get back together?

Any thoughts will help, I'm not getting much sleep lately cos of this :(

cut contact, at least for a couple of months maybe? If he wants you he will contact you, men usually do in these cases. Unfortunately relationships rarely seem to work from what I can gather after a breakup. But you never know.
