hi. My family were planning a trip to Americe for two weeks and renting out a RV.

I was wondering if anyone has any advice from experience on where to go or how these trips worked out for you. all advice would be greatly appreciated.:)

    We did it in 2001.

    We used http://www.cruiseamerica.com/

Picked up in Oakland - Dropped off in LA - Went from northern California to Las Vegas and back to LA. Stopping off in Yosemite, Hoover Dam, Big Bear, Death Valley and others that I can't remember.

We stayed in forest camps - good and RV parks - bad; See Trailer Park Boys for reasons.
The truck we rented was 34 feet long and had an 8 litre engine, so no problem keeping up with traffic, if memory serves it seemed to cost about $1,500 for everything.

It's a good way to see the country - but you're quite restricted once you get to a camp, unless you have no problem driving and parking a big truck.

Not too sure that I'd recommend if you have kids - there's a lot of driving.

    We enjoyed it thoroughly though.
