Required taste, those shows get stick from the more "seasoned" poster who deem HBO and Showtime as the elixer of all that is tv gold....but these shows serve a purpose and have a demographic, and a fanbase.

I adored The OC!....season 1 was fantastic, it died in season 2,3 ....but Autumn Reeser saved the show in season 4.

It's nothing to do with "standards", more what appeals to you and what you get out of the shows, if all shows were intended as mind candy we'd all be watching The History Channel.

Ha ha I was taking the piss about the OC, but you actually watched it. Please don't critic it, something cannot and should not be critiqued. Good god, where did they get you from!

Sir (madam??), I think the overwhelming views here on your TV taste says it all, if you enjoy these show, you enjoy them, I know I'm not going to wise you up to the error of your ways, but there is no getting around that these shows as a articles of media are pure poop. Yes they have a demographic, so does child porn, but that never makes it right. Never might about turning your brain off, you should try turning it on sometime.

Oh and yes, I did compare gossip girl to child porn (the worst kind no less);)

As for FX, I'm not network dependant, I like good TV no matter the network behind it. But curiously I don't actually watch any FX shows. Tried It always sunny, but just a load of shouting, might give it a second look. Hope that answers your query. Never said I was any sort of guru, you just assumed, you assumed correctly, but an assumption none the less. My tv taste is not up for debate, mainly because I did not start a topic and list them, you did and therefore opened the flood gates on yourself. How do you like swimming!!;)

The child porn thing is not out of order, it proves my point to the extreme, there's a demographic for everything, even the darkest of things, but its never an excuse. For record I don't enodorse CP in any way or form, just like gossip girl, etc.

This thread is just painful to read!

It's not so much snobbery Richard as disbelief that there's a market for some of these TV programmes outside of teenage girls.

And that's absolutely no offense to you whatsoever.. you're entitled to your own taste, but you need to understand the majority of this Internet forum will not look kindly on some of these shows aimed at teenagers, and will often let rip at anyone who enjoys them!

You seem to let it roll off your back though.. and you're dead right!

I will admit to being a big fan of Gilmore Girls back in the day.. it was a superbly written and very funny series (IMO) and I posted about it here. I took a lot of stick but some of these shows (mostly CW orientated it must be said) are liable to that.

You know what I say - f*ck the begrudgers... if you enjoy it, keep watching and don't give a sh*t what other people say!
