So lets say i knew someone, who knew someone who was related to a guy who played for a good team.. and that team were playing that night, against a weak side who were big outsiders. And the guy who played for good team, saw the team sheet and reported to us that they were putting out mainly reserves/second team players.

Would this be considered a betting scandal?

Yes but only if it didn't come in. ;)
Probably would depend on the league involved.

There is no such thing as a scandal if nobody finds out. :D

That's just getting team news that a bookmaker wouldn't know about. Use that genuine information to your advantage freely.

If the team were playing a second string on purpose so the players could head down to the local bookies and clean them out, then it's a scandal.

Pefectly fair call, like waiting to bet on the Liverpool match tonight depending on Liverpools team news, etc.

With the game meaning nothing to Fingal unless Shels somehow lost in Kildare, and they have the cup final and playoffs coming up, it's the bookies fault they didn't adjust accordingly. Enjoy the win! :D

Does the bookie let on everything it knows to you?
    Not a chance in hell.

If you've got an advantage, use it, and if it's on the bookies then definitely use it.!

fingal were fielding a second team because of their cup game

Doesn't make sense as the Cup match isn't until the 22nd.
What would make more sense is the manager deciding to let the youngsters/reserves have a good run out.
All you did was use the info to get on at a price that wouldn't be there once the team news broke.
Thinking about it, it is probably insider information and if it was me, I'd give the money away ;)

such a small market, i doubt the market changed much after team news announced tbh

Id say it was more to do with the playoffs coming up than cup
    +giving squad lads a run

Not a scandal btw, just info, info freely available to everyone else within a few mins of you

But if someone connected to the club is passing out/using this info a few hours before then maybe dodgy alright

It was saturday, Sporting Fingal v Athlone town. Mate got a phonecall half an hour before the game from a friend who'd saw the team sheet. He was saying that fingal were fielding a second team because of their cup game and that Athlone are big outsiders (we got 9/1, they were 25/1 on betfair apparently though)

Athlone won 3-2, we were delighted..

Just thought the whole thing was dodgey

Whats dodgy is you sticking it up here tbh

Some lad does you a good turn and you repay him by doing this:confused:

some bookie reading this will try and make a big deal out of it as bookies tend to do whenever the favourite loses in a LOI game
