Travelling through Ireland...

    Hello!

I'm really sorry for the location of this topic, but I don't think travelling Ireland is really travel for the Irish, is it? It's your everyday life:) I'm not Irish, but I'm planning a travel to Ireland in July. So I need some help, I googled a lot of things but found nothing really credible. So I figured that genuine Irishmen might know best and I found this forum. The questions are probably really stupid, but I can't get these information anywhere.

1)I have a month to travel. I'm flying Ryanair from the airport of Venice Treviso to Dublin, maybe to Shannon. I want to travel all around Ireland and maybe even Scotland. Is that too much for a month? Should I be focusing only on one country? I'm not a tourist - so I love to explore the everyday life and not just the sights.(e.g. I was in Paris for a month and never got to the Eiffel tower)

    2) I still don't know if I'll be travelling alone, because I have some friends who want to come with me, but I think we're not suitable for travelling together. Do B&Bs normally have single rooms? If they don't and you have to pay more, I'll probably take a friend with me.

    3) How safe is it to hitch-hike in Ireland for a girl? Or two girls? I'm 20, but I'd only hitch-hike in extreme conditions. And do buses go all around Ireland? Because in my country you sometimes don't have direct routes and you have to go all around or through some major cities.

    4) How much money would I need for a month, with travelling on a budget? I don't eat much when I'm travelling. Is 1500€ enough, too much, or too little? (not including the plane tickets)

    5) I don't eat meat, will I find anything that doesn't contain it?

    6) Do B&B have computers with internet you can use these days?

    7) Which parts of larger cities (Dublin, Belfast..) should I avoid in the night-time?

Thank you so much for the answers, you don't need to answer all the questions, just as many as you like, I'll be eternally grateful:)

Well, I hope I might get somebody who is actually Irish on this Irish forum :) And I do have Lonely Planet, but it's just okay, not excellent and these questions I have aren't addressed there.

Thank you, that answers one of my questions.. I should avoid Ballyfermot and Crumlin... :) But I'd rather not spend much time in Dublin. You're American?

Thank you for the tip, I'll add Burren to my list, I was already planning to go to the west of Ireland. How do you pronounce it?

Private message me and I can give you more info that you may need. I'm not originally Irish but I've lived here (Dublin & the West of Ireland) for nearly 10 years - so I'm pretty familiar with the place but still remember what it's like to not be as familiar with it!
