    Hi guys,

I have finally decided to start my weight loss journey after years of feeling crap and ashamed of myself. I have been going to the gym for 4-5 days a week for the last 3 weeks and I have had a program made up. I'm happy with this side of things.

However where I really struggle is at lunch and dinner. I'm currently in university so lunch means getting something on campus or bringing something in . My problem is that usually I just end up getting a white bread ham sandwich - definitely not advisable for weight loss! either that or I just have a special k bar and a packet of snack a jacks - probably even worse!

For dinner I usually have chicken with potatoes or sweetcorn or something along those lines. I'm not a big fan of any veggies - except for raw carrots, weirdly enough, I can't stand them when they're cooked.

I'd really like some ideas for healthy meals, considering I won't eat salads or anything with salad in it. Sorry to be awkward!!

Any help would be really appreciated!

Hi, I'm in college too at the moment and struggle to think of tasty lunch ideas that don't cost a bomb! Here's some things I like:

Wholegrain basmati rice stir fry with prawns and veg: Just make a load of it at the weekend, and it'll do you for a few days. Longer if you freeze it. Easy to make too, a bit of soy sauce/peanut oil/sweet soy sauce or something to add flavour, and it's done!

Wholmeal pitta bread with hummous, tomato and lettuce: This is what I like in my pitta bread, however you say you don't like salad-y things, you can just put normal sandwich stuff in them too- ham, chicken, cheese, whatever. It's a good idea to fill them up with stuff though, keeps you fuller for longer. Do try get some veg in there too! Tesco do a nice 6 pack of wholemeal pitta breads for 59c, you can't go wrong! :D

Homemade soups: Recently started making these a lot, my faves are carrot and parsnip or butternut squash. Just throw all the veg in a pot, add stock and herbs (I like to add a little cream too but maybe not if you're trying to lose weight), blend in a food processor and enjoy! It does help if you have a thermos to bring it to college though, which I don't.. but if you have access to a microwave it's a good lunch.

That's all I can think of for now, I'm always looking for new meals too so if any other posters have ideas jump in! Oh and bring fruit, an apple or pear or something for after lunch, so you don't crave something sweet. Sometimes works for me, sometimes doesn't!
