    install game and patch it.

put everything on to super very high and turn off post processing. then work backwards from there till you get acceptable framerates.

What size monitor? What resolution will You be playing at?

Try these and report back. Remember ArmA II is very hard on the hard drive, I'm running a ramdisk, expect choppyness. Have a go at the single player and run around in the armoury, do the training missions. Let us know how it goes.
Use Fraps to tell Your ingame fps

22 inch monitor. 1680x1050 is native settings on it. Looks really smooth and very detailed. Had the settings at v.high.

Havn't a clue how to go about installing the 1.04 patch guys? Can ye give me a walk through it...don't want to put any files where they aren't suppose to go etc...

Just double click it, it will extract itself

What kinda framerates u gettin? If its running so smoothly You can prob enable some low antialiasing or post processing, I've them disabled as it gives blur which isn't nice with a TrackIR, its Your own preference really

Download here, pick the Kellysheros.eu mirror (fast), save the file to Your desktop. It will be a rar file which is a sealed package which must be opened. Download and install Winrar to be able to extract the rar file. Double click it and You'll see the contents of the rar file, it will contain the 1.04 patch .exe, double click the .exe and the patch will work away and install itself once You agree and jump through the hoops.

Have a play around with the single player game, try the training and play around in the armoury till You get the hang of the controls.

yeah sorry fellas, for some reason eircom just disconnected itself for over 3 hours. Was enjoying the virgin experience and all that :). Raging so I was when I got disconnected..

Will have to play through abit of the single player campaign to get a feel for things as I was completely lost. Very complicated to start out with, but can see how much scope there is in the game esp on MP.

One thing that confused me, was when we were driving in the truck up the mountain...how did one of ye know which directions to take?? One of ye was saying "go this way" etc....or was all that info available on the map?

Yeah, using the map and reading gps co-ordinates. You bring up Your map with "m" and gps by pressing "right ctrl + m".

This game has a serious learning curve. Some missions disable gps and then it gets much harder with just map and compass (k), double click "k" to keep it visible. Other missions can have a timed objective, ie rendezvous at a certain map co-ordinate at certain time (even in real time sometimes), You bring up watch with "O", double click to keep visible

I had 300 ping with eircom and the server is less than 3km from my house :(

I'll just plod away on the single player for a while until I get familiar with the controls etc. The MP seems very complex...in a good way.

Anyone getting MW2? Might pick it up on ps3 and give it a spin.

Might get it eventually, Arma 2 MP FTW though, always will prefer it over COD MP.

I'm pirating it, no way they're getting my money, MP doesn't interest me now they've killed the community
