Debt from Uk over 10 years old

    Hi ,

I incurred a debt( credit card) of just over 1k just over 10 years ago in the UK, I moved to the US for over seven years & returned to ROI about three years ago.

In the last 6 months I have an agency based in Ireland chasing me for this debt, I have not acknowledged them whatsoever.

The last letter I got told me they will pursue me through whichever way they can & have my credit rating affected?

    Are they allowed?

    Thanks in advance

Statute of Limitations for the UK is six years, same as Ireland (s. 5 Limitation Act 1980).

    Just ignore the letters.

Make a data protection request that they remove your personal details in that they have no legitamite purpose for having them.

Important is that you do not acknowledge the debt in writing as this could reset the statute of limitations clock. If its just letters, it's easier just to ignore them.
