call your previous employer and sk them to reissue you with a p45

or much more simple than that.....ask your new employer for their tax registration number, then ring the Revenue with that number and your PPS no. They can then arrange to issue a cert of tax credits immediately and don't need your P45.

Anyway, its the tax office who have your P45, so it seems unneccessary to ask for it to be reissued, so that you can then send it to your employer who will in turn send it to the tax office! Just give them the two numbers mentioned above and the job is oxo!

Im in the same position, what if you gave them a photocopy of your p45?

no a photocopy is of no use at all.

As I said, if you do not have a copy of your P45 to hand, just ask your employer for their tax registration number, then ring the revenue (PAYE) section, and give them this number and your PPS no. That is all that needs to be done. It is not at all complicated, and is much quicker than sending P45 to your employer, who then sends it to the tax office, who then use it to get exactly the same information that you have provided on the phone.

    Just ring them!

Hey I've a similar problem but didn't want to be starting a new thread and annoying everyone. I left my PT job in May to travel and now I'm back for Christmas and I need to give in my P45, which was sent out home during the summer but I can't for the life of me find it. The company is based in England, which is where all my documents are headed, so is the situation different for me??

    Sorry if it's a dim question! ;)
