    Hi,

Heard in work that if I canceled Sky Tv that I could just stick my card back into my box and receive freeview channels i.e. RTE, BBC. It sounds to good to be true, is it?

    Cheers

If you cancel your sky u will indeed get the free view channels. Just remove ur card once its switched off and turn it off for two minutes. Then return the power and leave out the card.

However you will not get RTE on this...you would need a terrestrial aerial put up to receive them.

Without your card inserted you will get the Free to Air (FTA) Satellite channels. ( 'Freeview' is the UK 'Terrestial' Digital Service and has a different channel line up).
You may have to add and view Channel 5 as an 'Other Channel'. You can also add different ITV Regions by this method. see my website
www.british-tv-in-france.co.uk for details on how to perform these proceedures.

Do you not have to return your sky boxes if you cancel?
ive got a hd box and also a standard box.

My understanding was when you subscribed to sky you usually paid a small fee, that fee covered the box, so it is your property.

If you have the box for more than 12 months, it is your to keep.
