For what it's worth, names that have been discussed the most lately for the 2010 WWE Hall of Fame are Ted DiBiase, the Road Warriors, Demolition and Slick.

There are a lot of rumors about Ultimate Warrior, Lex Luger and The Honky Tonk Man being inducted also. Ron Simmons is also said to be a possibility.

Out of all these names, Ted DiBiase is considered the strongest possibility.

Is it too early for HBK, Taker or even The Rock? SCSA was last year

I love if Macho Man and Warrior were inducted the same year

too early for HBK unless he's retiring.

it could be Taker's last WM, but it'd be tacky for him to go out so similarly to Flair imo.

out of those you've listed, the most likely is Macho Man maybe?

it's tough. there'll always be a headline inductee, but nothing jumps out for me really.

The Rock is possible. i just don't know if he'd want so much connection with wrestling between Smackdown X, hosting Raw soon (i assume, unless he lied again) and HOF.

if i had to pick one as likely, it'd be Savage.

Savage will not go in as long as Vince is in control.

Dibiase, the Road Warrior, and Macho man should be in any self-respecting hall of fame, even one in Vince's head. I think HBK and Taker are certain inductees, though I think it should wait until they retire. I think The Rock merits inclusion, but there are wrestlers with a much larger body of work who aren't yet in there.

Less certain about Warrior. While he did accomplish as a draw, did he have many decent matches? He certainly had a few stinkers. And his professionalism (or lack thereof) should count against him. It's redundant anyway, though, as the hall of fame depends entirely on who Vince is on good terms with and wants to trot out - Warrior will probably never fall into that category. For that reason, I don't think we should get too hung up about the HOF.

Does the WWE hall of fame even matter? It seems just about everyone who ever wrestled for McMahon has been inducted. Koko B Ware FFS?

The level of politics involved in it is ridiculious as well which is why someone like Randy Savage will never get into as long as Vince is in control. Maybe when/if Stephanie takes over it'll happen but then again it won't if the rumours are true :D.

Demolition, Road Warriors and DiBiase are all worthy entrants. Three acts I'm a hopeles mark for anyway.

WOYAH would be hilarious, can you imagine the speech? I'd pay good money to see him shoot on HHH for 15 minutes

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,235 ✭✭✭✭flahavaj

LOL, I don't think Stephanie is any fonder of savage than Vince is. If anythng she has good reason to dislike him more.;)

Honestly I would pay GOOD money if they inducted Warrior just for his speech alone. :p
Chris Masters is a good shout this year as well.

True that. Many of us would pick up the DVD purely for the lengthy, certifiably insane rant that would happen....

I've tried to dig up a clip of Father Ted accepting the Golden Cleric award by way of illustration.

DiBiasi should certainly be inducted at some stage, and I'd expect him to be inducted over the next 2 or 3 years.

I'd like to see Rick Rude and Bob Backlund (assuming Bob accepts the invitation).

The Honky Tonk Man i would hope gets in at some stage too.

Koko has held 21 titles over the years, and who knows what he's done behind the scenes. He might not have sold out many stadiums, but that doesn't mean he doesn't deserve a place in the HOF.

Savage must have really pissed Vince off (if the alleged reason is anything to go by then its understandable) as nearly everyone in the HOF has screwed over/held up/quit Vince at some stage, Hogan has fallen out with him dozens of times over the years, same with Slaughter, Bret, Austin

That's the thing, really - many more people cut and run from WWE because they were unhappy with what they doing under Vince. The fact that Vince McMahon doesn't do anything with the guy and won't say why points to some sh1t that went down in the past. The story that Savage slagging HHH/Stephanie in a youtube video is the cause of it all doesn't really wash, does it?

Nah it's just about everyone that Vince and the WWF are on good terms with or are doing an angle with or have a DVD coming out of. But I agree, it doesn't matter. It's a silly excuse to wear a suit, much like the Oscars - Hitchcock and Kubrick never won one of them!

"Fallen out with" isn't really the same as "pissed off Vince" in fairness. Bret and Austin had a falling out wheras I'd say Luger and Warrior pissed him off. Luger was a bit rubbish anyway.

I'm not entirerly sure where i seen the rumor, but Bret was saying there was a possibilty of both Stu & Owen going into the HOF, so fingers crossed!

Take anything The Sun reports with the largest piece of salt you can find. Their wrestling "breaking stories" or whatever are kinda rubbish.

John Bradshaw Layfield would be a great choice for the hall of fame. His wrestling career is pretty much over, he is still a recognisable name, and he deserves it. I'd imagine his speech would be great fun.

And while he's been put in, may as well stick Ron Simmons in there too. As the first african american to hold a (major) world title, he surely deserves it. It's a shame his WWE career never quite hit the same heights, but it was still a DAMN! successful one.

Have to wonder how things would have panned out for Simmons if The Rock hadn't started to become so popular.

That being said, always liked Simmons. Solid worker, really funny, especially with the APA. I don't think this will be his year though

JBL doesnt belong in there imo, he went from a bottom/mid card comedy act to a "wrestling god" overnight, held onto the title for months and made watching smackdown stale as hell, granted he was a great commentator but HOF? nah, theres plenty more deserving guys, off the top of my head:

    Owen Hart
    The Road Warriors/LOD
Jake Roberts (if he can stay sober during his speech)
    Ted DiBiase
    The Honky Tonk Man
    Paul Bearer
    Arn Anderson
    Tully Blanchard
Randy Savage (probably not gonna happen)

No ... don't think so either. He'll get in eventually though.

I couldn't disagree more. Granted he went from the mid card to the main event overnight, but while he was there he was one of the greatest heels of the past decade. He made Smackdown worth watching. He is also the longest reigning champion Smackdown has had.

How do you mean "panned out"? Farooq never got a push more than to be slotted into a nothing main event title match against Taker at King of the Ring 97.

I can't remember one thing Simmons did in WWF/WWE that was worth mentioning. Yeah he had some funny skits but is that what the Hall of Fame is about? Inducting comedians? Simmon's great body of work with regards to actual wrestling took place outside the WWF.

You could probably add Magnum TA to that list there.

While I liked Owen and would have nothing against the guy, did he really reach the heights his brother did? Would he be mentioned if he was still alive?

Is there athread here about Savage and the situation (or lack thereof) between him and the McMahons/WWF ?

Sorry for bumping the thread back but was just watching vintage collection and it had a Mr.Perfect v Yokozuna match, and it made me wonder why yoko aint in the hall of fame......he was a former world champion and seems he could stka claim over someone like koko b ware. And given umaga is in yokos extended family, he could be inducted to out of respect???

    What everyone elses thoughts?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,380 ✭✭✭geeky

Judging this list on its merits rather than the people who've gone in before (ie - inducting Koko was a travesty, and all of these guys made a bigger contribution to wrestling. But I don't think they should be inducted just because of a past mistake if you know what I mean!)

    Owen Hart
    - May get hopped on for this but.... Owen Hart was great to watch in his various roles, but he was the classic (and best IMO) 'jobber to the stars'. While his career was a good one, I'm not sure he made a particularly profound contribution to the sport in the way that, say, Stone Cold did.

    The Road Warriors/LOD
    Yep.

Jake Roberts (if he can stay sober during his speech)
    - I'd definitely mark out for that. But hasn't he said nasty things about Vince?

    Ted DiBiase
    - It's unbelievable that he's not inducted yet. Unless they want to use him for the Ted Jr face turn (which must be coming up soon with The Marine 2 out), I think this should be done. Yesterday.

    The Honky Tonk Man
    -

    Paul Bearer
    - Again, great memories, but not sure he merits such a high accolade.

Randy Savage (probably not gonna happen)
Never, ever, ever. And that's a real shame.

It was just announced in Japan that the WWE has invited Antonio Inoki into the Hall of Fame, and that Stan Hansen will be the guy inducting him.

The Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase is not meh and tbh neither is Stu Hart or Inoki although maybe some might want a more recent name but that isnt exactly normal for a Hall of fame as you dont induct people who are still wrestling generally. Flair being an exception but even then he was retiring from in ring action the following night.

I cant imagine The Rock being inducted this year and apart from himself there are very few recent really big names not wrestling anymore who could go in this year.

out of curiosity what would you consider a big name that isnt already in the HOF if you dont consider Dibiase one?

for me they are meh nothing really special,no one said anything about recent either, but if your going to do a hof you need a big name attraction

well i guess my opinon on what a big name is just differes slightly to yours as i dont see many bigger names than Ted Dibiase about who hasnt been added to the HOF or is likely to be added (i.e Randy Savage, or the Rock this year). nothing wrong with a difference of opion of course.
