I had a look at renting floor space in a shopping centre recently and after seeing the figures cant understand how some of the kiosks that are already there are making money. The rate for November and December is €2,800 / week averaging 400 / day. Some of the kiosks never have customers when im there and I doubt they are taking 400 / day in takings, let alone making profit. Am I missing something?

That's V.high alright. I can't imagine how tight it would be to make a profit. Maybe someone else with more experience can fill us in.

    What are the off-peak rates?

    Its,

    350/day Monday - Wednesday
    450/day Thursday & Friday
    600/day Saturday & Sunday

    or 2800 for the week.

No way is the Sweet Factory for example taking that sort of money.

I would guess that if you rent by the year, it would not cost as much.

When I had a store in liffey valley I took in an average of €80k a month, then €130k in November & over €400k in December.

Hence the high rents for the November / December periods.

As a comparison, what is the rent like in LV?

It was about 55k for the year 5 years ago when I was looking at it for LV. That was for a 6x3 kiosk with no other storage space.

for 2000 sq ft the rent was €165,000 + rates & service charges @ approx €50,000.

then in 2005 it went to €380,000 + charges, hence I left!
