    Hi all.
I am looking at buying this netbook/notebook here and was wondering what you guys thought?
Would it be a match for a Celeron t1600 with GMA4500 graphics? (My wifes' laptop has this spec)
Bear in the following: I would be using it for college (if I'm accepted) and would need to run VMWare etc. Youtube and browsing etc. I also use handbrake for transcoding.
Don't know what else to say! If I've missed anything, sorry!
    All help appreciated. Cheers

I notice you want to run Vmware. Vmware and netbooks just aren't going to play well together, i happen to have it installed on my netbook for the hell of it, and even with my processor overclocked to 2.0Ghz and 2Gb of RAM it leaves much to be desired running an xp virtual machine. It does boot, and it does work, but you're not going to be able to do all that much with it.
I'd be looking at a full blown laptop tbh, what kind of a budget did you have in mind?

Thanks for the reply. My budget is less than €500.
The killer about all this is that I had to sell my XPS m1530 with T9300 and 4gig RAM cos I had an offer I couldn't refuse.
One of the reasons I was looking at the above "laptop" was for portability, cos I would be going to college on the motorbike. I have a well specced P4 pc for the home.
Another reason is because it has the 1366*768 screen with dual core cpu and discreet graphics. Nothing compared to what I had before, but needs must

Would a 12 or 13" not do you. You'd get a much more powerful machine for your money. For what you need I'd stay away from anything with an atom, it just isn't powerful enough for things like virtual machines.

12" or 13" would be fine. if it's slim & light, & the keyboard is easy to use I'd be happy. It's just that I saw this and it ticked all the right boxes.
It does have a dual-core AMD cpu and I would be fitting it with 4gig RAM. Plus it's Win 7 64-bit.
VMWare would only be for Linux & Unix, Ubuntu, Red Hat etc. for testing purposes (I think)
If another one could be found with the same form factor & at least the same spec, I'd be happy (not buying it for the ferrari looks)

Yeah but it looks to be a low voltage processor which will cripple it's performance.

    True, it's a 1.2Ghz 1MB cache with 2 cores. I dunno, I guess I was just hopeful.

I have an acer timeline 1810tz which can be gotten from amazon for 500 euro. It has an 11.6" screen and can handle 1080p video and youtube hd with very smooth performance. It might be what you are looking for.

Once again these have low voltage processors which kill performance.
