Need a new Dental hygienist

Basically, I found a new dentist last year cos I got a med card and my old dentist wouldn't take me. Dentist=lovely. Hygienist attached to his practice= EVIL PSYCHO LADY!

Okay, seems harsh, but when I went for the first time I cried my eyes out in the chair it hurt so much, and worse still, she laughed it off.

I'm a tough nut; I have had 8 teeth removed and a serious amount of orthodontics done over 5 years and had a root canal..none of these hurt like this lady. I have also been to hygienists before and while it isn't pleasant, i never cut short an appointment and left the room with tears and mascara streaming down my face. Embarrassing too.

Reassuringly for me, my brother and friend shared stories of shedding a manly tear it hurt so much.

Anyways, they rang me today asking if I was planning to come back to continue my appointment..I felt sick seeing the feckin number on the phone remembering the pain and the laughter!!

So (and apologies for my long story but it's therapeutic ..it was a traumatic time!) can anyone name a nice hygienist. Even tho I have the med card I would actually fork up the savings to go back private if they weren't going to rip the gums off me.

The lady in with Frank Cuddy is pretty good; didn't hurt me and my dental history would be similarly 'colourful' :D

Sally's her name, isn't it? Been to her before and no complaints.

Sally; that's right; her name slipped my mind there; thought it was Peggy but wasn't sure :o

Anyway, Sally is good and her rates aren't too steep either; I had to pay her in full before as I had battered my prsi allowances to shreds. How I love my teeth

I love my hygienist! She's lovely, myself and my OH see her every 6 months or so, and she doesn't make me feel like a guilty 8 year old (like practically all my other hygienists did before I moved to Galway!) Her name is Blaithine, (iI can't spell in Irish!!!) and she's at the Gate Clinic on Dock Street.
