    Hey all

Do you guys just use standard mic stands if you are setting up microphones over a kit? I've tried it but find the stands slip and fall because the weight of the microphones.

    Any tips?

These guys make seriously good stands, in Dublin:

Edit: the stand is not on the site, so it must be still in development?

I usually use one stand and a stereo bar with SDCs, usually XY. Used to use a spaced pair of LDCs with two stands, but I prefer the new way. Plain ordinary stands.

What mics are you using? What stereo set up?

We have (had!) two of them in the studio, now they're in absolute bits...one is completely destroyed, the whole centre tightening section just snapped one day and disintegrated into about 5 bits!

OP try a weight (like a heavy jacket or something) on the tripod to keep it from keeling over, or at the opposite end of the boom.

Indeed, we sent over 30 back - the first batch we kak ok .

However we'll replace them with new 'working' ones free of charge .

    Sound fair ?

Yes , Dave had them down at our show you may recall.

At Euro 499 each they're a fairly specialist item though.

He's also doing speaker stands too based on the same design.

Well that'd be great! I'll give you a shout about it, had no idea they were known as a bad batch.

Yes, the first ones were cast from a metal made of butter and chocolate ...
