Chassis protection Magnesium Anode?

Here's a mad idea, but it should work.......
My jeep is now 10 years old and is in great condition. I'd like to prolong the chassis life as much as possible by attaching a magnesium anode to the chassis with copper grease in the sandwich to ensure a good contact.

Magnesium anodes are used on outboards boat engines to prevent components from rusting to death, especially when used in salt water. The anode works by magnesium giving up electrons easier than iron and therefore the magnesium corrodes instead of the chassis. Anode retails for approx €34.

    Has anyone tried this?

    I think it's called a sacrificial anode.
I'd be for just keeping the underside sealed and clean.

Sacrificial anodes only work in a fluid medium (ie. water) as the electrodes are somewhat reluctant to travel through air :D
