    Hi all,

The battery on my car was dead this morning:(.

I rang a place about getting a new one and thay told me they had a 74amp and 80amp battries.

Any idea on which i should be getting or does it make a difference?

Car is an Audi A4 1.9tdi AWX engine.

    Cheers

    Go to halfords.ie

You can put in exactly what car and model you have and it tells you which ones you can use. I have an A4 1.8T on it listed 4 different ones. I rang them to ask the difference and they told me all four will work but the higher powered (& priced ones) will just allow me to leave the car longer without it going dead.

Halfords can be very expensive for what your getting...

OP why don't you look at your existing battery and get one with the same ratting??

Only difference is the higher power. More designed for when larger loads are called for. Both will work fine in your car, but the recommend / fitted form new is the lower rateing.

Just had look at the battery now.

    It says 12v 380A 80Ah DIN.

Would that mean its an 80 amp?

    Cheers

    yup. 80amps.

Would it not be better to get someone to jump start your car, then drive for an hour or so to charge it up?

or buy a trickle charger. Disconnect your battery, Leave it overnight charging then happy days car will start.

Chargers are usually a fraction of the cost of a new battery and a lot less hassle.
Jump leads are only ~15euro and are always handy to have around.

Congo i thinks its the battery from factory and the car is an 02.

I noticed it struggled a bit starting the other morning then done a 2 hour drive to belfast, got some work done on it and drove back to dublin. Struggled a bit starting yesterday morning and evening.
    Then this morning, totally dead.

Cheers for the fast reply mate.
