Are any of you based here? Would you have any info of group rides based from North London, or be interested? Any recommended routes, again north of the river? If you commute, what's your route?

    Thanks.

    I'm in London :)

I'm in SW6..so not really in your area. At the moment i'm trying to do a few spins with the London Dynamos club...mostly south of the river stuff though. Usually head to Richmond Park on saturday morning. I have been pretty lazy of late though...and if i did commute, my uni is only 10 min down the road in South Ken!

I was In Hammersmith until just over a year ago. I had a great commute to Kensington, up to Hyde Park, right past Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square and on into the city. One of the things I miss most is my commute!

For spins, I'd mostly head out to Richmond Park and do laps. North of the river, I think there's a lap of Regent's Park that people do. I can't dig out links to routes right now because I'm on my mobile.

I've made it to Richmond park a couple of times, but it's a 30km trek through one hundred and one lights. Regents park is closer and good for laps, like you said, stopped_clock.

I usually head north towards Hertford, some nice routes around there - especially via Cuffley and Bayford. All rolling hills though. I'm just looking for other options.

I might be emigrating to England soon. Are there are good online forums, like this one, with a decent mix of cyclists contributing? The only board I know of is the londonfgss one.

It's obviously more roadie biased, but there are well informed folk on it. And they can point you in the direction of lycra bargains.

This was my bible when I lived in London. Good rides and worth the effort to get out to them.

If you're near Victoria, I remember passing a bike shop on Vauxhall Bridge Road. Could be another Evans though.

Cavendish Cycles in New Cavendish Street for overpriced fixie stuff.

Havent been in there yet but I imagine Tokyo Fixed Gear (in Soho near the porno lane) is along the same lines.

I'm in N Acton and work in Hsmith. Having finally visited (to walk about) Richmond park yesterday and drooling at all the bike porn (and laughing at some serious freds) I'm going to be making a point of taking trips there.

    Place is awesome.

It's a great place for doing laps, much better than Phoenix Park!

Moving over myself in May,but am'nt sure wheter to lug me rothar over or not.
Spose it all depends on the longevity of my stay.
Although I reckon I'll suss the city out before I make any decisions.

    Another bump up.

Summer is supposed to be approaching, is there anyone interested in group spins (At a level to aim for 60-80km, I'm no where capable yet of going on Blorg's 200km stages)?

I finish up with exams in two weeks! So after that I'd love to get together and do some spins if it fits in with my racing. Windsor/Chertsey is a good direction to head for that kind of distance.
