Anytime I try to install it I keep getting a message saying it can't locate a file called "p2561401.cab" google turns up a few things mainly to clean the disc which I did but with still no joy. Anyone ever had this problem? Trying to install it on a new laptop with Vista on it.

It's most likely a file that was in the MSOCache folder on the root drive. MS Office 2003 gives you the option of keeping these backup installation files on the hard-disk if you want to. Maybe it's a requirement or something for your version... ...? reinstall again and select the option to keep the installation/cach files on the disk.
