I bought a PC from Aldi a year or so ago with Vista

Do i get a free upgraade to Windows 7? If, how so?
Will i have to format to install Windows 7?

    Thanks

The upgrade program only applies to pc bought very recently, Since the summer I believe so no.

You don't HAVE to format to install windows 7 but it is recommended.

unless you you've identified some must have features not too much different from vista once you've tweaked vista up.
