    Hi All,

The hassle of these shaggin updates

I want to install protools onto a new mac book, the installation disc I have for pro tools is 7.0 and I have an authourisation code for the 7.4 upgrade via download.

The new macbook has Snow leopard on it... is there any reason I wont be able to install 10.5 discs from my old mac book onto the new one, update to 10.5.X and run the shaggin pro tools 7.4?

Holy sweet devine tap dancing jeebus the hassle fo it all

    Any advice appreciated.

    Trev

Ah never mind - cant use the 10.5 discs on the new machine.
Its essentially pro tools 8 purchase then a donwload to 8.0.3pr ..what a load of me balls:rolleyes:

I dunno if its just me but holy **** between the snow leopard info and the compatibility charts on the digidesign website there's no wonder people just use hacked software:rolleyes:

131 quid later and your still not gauranteed the software / hardware / OS will work fully.

I thought macs practically installed everything for you...dont they just work, out of the box, and never break down?

But really, yeah man, pro tools 8 is a major upgrade, so if you actually get it working, you'll probably find the e131 was well spent..

Generally Ive had a great run with no complications on the mac.

I run logic 8 and PT 7.4 with no issues at all , this whole upgrade thing though really causes so much hassle it will really put me off upgrading unless I really really want some particular additional feature...ah sure we live and learn

That's probably a good attitude - let someone else debug stuff ....

You'll grow out of it ! Or rather you'll just wait til you know it works.
Most Pros lust after new features too - but can't risk the mayhem upgrading can cause ...
