I never view opposition injury news as good for us, surely we'd like to take on the world champions at full strength - give 'em no excuse when they succumb to the might that is Irish Rugby!

That's a damn shame, must have been some finger break to require emergency surgery! EEWwwww.

God I can't wait for the weekend... :) though this is my default state all year round I s'pose ;)

as someone who had a finger break which required emergency surgery a few weeks ago [and therefore typing this only using 1 finger from left hand] I have great sympathy with him :)

But happy days as I think he is the best 8 in the world atm

This is very good news for Ireland, his form since the Lions Tour has been immense.

He was anonymous in the Test series, compared to his S14 form for the Bulls. Has he ever shown that form at Test level ?

Maybe he suffers under the tactical regime, he never seems to have ball in hand for SA, can hardly be his fault. He looks so fast / able at S14 level that I don't doubt he can bring it.

personally I'd be sticking him on the wing.

He had a very good tri-nations, he just won the Currie Cup with the Bulls, the guy is a very dangerous player. I dont subscribe to the "hope they have all their best players" thing, if you lose, you lose, injuries are all part of it. No-one cares after the event, least of the record books.

Both Heaslip and Spies were anonymous in the 1st and 2nd tests.

I don't think SA use Spies in the same way the Bulls do, they use Spies as a third centre/support runner and give him a lot of possession.

I think Spies is a very good player whose strong points aren't utilised by the Boks at all.

On the flip side, you could argue that Spies only came into the game in the 2nd test when scrums were uncontested (which would suggest he's poor) and he had acres of space that any average number 8 could take advantage of.

I agree that he didnt have a great Lions Series but he is played a lot of better games since, just dont think he was in great form. Not sure I accept the same for Heaslip, thought he was pretty good myself, he does a lot of excellent close work and is very good in the tackle.

I thought Heaslip played excellent in the second and third test.

He single handidly caused the injuries to O Gara before he missed the tacke in the corner & Roberts when he'd to go off! Both tried to tackle him at full steam! Watch the game back! He had a huge part in why the 2nd game & hence the test series was lost!

He is the most dynamic forward in world rugby when given a few yards!
SA play a kicking game & he is not utilized as much as he is with the bulls!
Watch him on Youtube running through the English players! Outstanding!
Munster would have been better served getting him instead of De Villiers if at all possible!
