There's a lot of buzz about this filly within the betting industry, 13 wins from 13 etc...I've seen it run on some youtube vids and it's been shorterned by the bookies...

Anyone got any opinions on the Classic?

She is the best value imo and I'll be having a bet on her.

    Quick positives and negatives.

Positives: Unbeaten,4 runs on this course 4 wins. 7 grade 1 wins.

Negatives: its her first time running against the males and is up in trip.

Best value in the race, imo, is Gio Ponti 14/1

Primarily a turf horse he won the Sir Beaufort (not the best race by any stretch) when it was transferred from turf to the Pro-Ride at Santa Anita. He returned 1 month later to come 5th in a pretigious Grade 2 event only beaten 1 1/2L again on Pro-Ride.

Following the above 2 races he returned to turf where he has won 4 Grade 1's in a row (including the Arlington Million) and last time out tiring in the stretch in a Grade 1 at Belmont (over 1m4f - his longest race to date).

Returning to 1m 2f, Gio Ponti will absolutely cruise into the race in the final couple of furlongs, you will not see a horse travelling better and barring any severe traffic problems I expect him to win this race very cosily

Will post up my thoughts on other events towards the end of the week.

All the best to everyone else.

Absolutely agree about Gio Ponti. It comes from no where to win it's races, great turn of pace...Defo won't be as big as 14's on the day.

The yanks really do rate Zenyatta and the step up in distance I don't think will casue her too many problems as I don't think she's really been 'ridden' out properly (sounds strange I know having won 13/13) so I'm really in two minds where my monies gonna go...Great race though.

Zenyatta is great value at the moment, her price is definetley going to contract on the day, she's this years Curlin. If Mike Smith rides her more up with the pace, maybe middle of the field i can see her winning, but to come from last with rip van winkle more than likely up front setting a good pace it will be very difficult. I'm a massive fan of hers, i was at Santa Anita last year and she was my banker of the whole meeting. Cant wait for saturday

I was over in Vegas in Sep and spotted the Yanks antepost prices for the BC. Zenyatta was 10-1 for the Classic - granted she was never confirmed for the race but it was still a massive price which would suggest the Yanks fear the Europeans in the race especially after last year where the Yanks were floored in the Classic.

I wont be backing her anyways as this is her first time against the colts and fillies never win the Classic. Rip should drift to around 3-1 on the day. Hear O'Brien is at his usual crap with him saying their is doubts over a foot injury. Every race Rip has ran this year he seems to have a foot injury just 2 or 3 days before his intended race. Still after last year O'Brien knows what it takes to in the Classic and RVW is the pick to finish off another superb flat season for the Irish.

Exactly what I thought would happen, Gio Ponti came absolutely cantering all over them sadly there was one superstar travelling a little bit better ;)

Well done to all of you who backed Zenyatta

Odd one here lads, new born babies can get in the way of certain things and i didnt get to see the Classic, what price did Zenyatta come home at?

Backed her at 7/2 earlier in the day. i assume she was shorter at the off?

My paddypower results hasnt got it yet and its not listed on at the races website either! just wanna know as im hopeful it difted cause i was guaranteed the better odds :)

    Was it a good race?

I believe she was slow out of the stalls or something like that?

She was well off the pace for most of the race and weaved her way from rail to outside with about three to go, got into about sixth place and then mowed them all down. You really need to see it to believe how good it was. As for price I got 7/2 as well, was 10/3 last I checked and 5/2 on PMU. There was a withdrawal though of third or fourth fav so not sure if there was a rule 4

returned $7.60 on the US tote (to a $2 stake), which is 3.80 or 14/5 if you have a thing for fractions.

Best performance of the year bar none - fair play to connections for having the guts to take on the colts. It is always a pleasure to watch a horse come from last to first on the bridle. It was like Arazi's performance (best performance of all time) or Zarkava - brilliant.
