Hey guys I'm currently a student nurse in UCD and trying to figure out the best options after I graduate. I have a quite an interest in the area of tissue viability and wound managment and I'm considering doing the Higher diploma in RCSI, but then again I'd like to work in dialysis or perhaps do a masters in healthcare mangement or perhaps critical care! Can't really decide!

I'm guessing a year on a general ward would be a good foundation for whatever option I take. I'm just wondering are there any other nurses on here with a bit of experience post qualification who could offer a bit of advice!

I have so many ideas about what I'd like to specialise in but really can't make a decision.

I'm just afraid of getting a job on the ward and not moving on from there. Should I just go ahead and enroll in a post grad?

Is managment a good route to go straight down with little experience?

Can renal/tissue viability nursing become a tad tedious after awhile?! Are the specialities almost too specialised in that one becomes stuck in the preverbial rut after a few years?!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated guys!

    Thanks!
